A new opportunity has arisen to join the well-established, successful and growing team at Bowlts, an independent firm of Rural Chartered Surveyors, established in 1991. Based at Pluscarden, just outside Elgin, in Moray, the firm operates across the north of Scotland.

With a team of 15 staff, our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management, advising both retained and private clients on a broad range of property matters. Due to an increased workload, we are seeking a new member of the land agency team to support and contribute to our expanding portfolio.

Although a relatively small practice, our work is very varied, interesting, and professionally challenging, encompassing almost the full spectrum of land agency work, including:

Estate management
Letting of sporting, grazing and residential properties
Providing agricultural advice
Book-keeping, payroll and VAT services
Sales and purchases of houses, farms, woodland, and fishings
Planning and development
Architectural services, including building repairs and renewals
Utilities, pipeline and wayleaves compensation work
Renewables energy projects
Forestry
Valuation
Mapping and GIS services
Natural capital and emerging rural markets

The rural practice department currently consists of three fully qualified land agents and one trainee. The team has responsibility for the retained management of a number of estates across the north of Scotland, alongside consultancy work for a diverse range of clients.

Many of the estates under management include a significant forestry element, supported by our dedicated in-house forestry team.

The Candidate

Chartered Surveyor (MRICS)
Ideally 3-5 years post qualification experience (although applicants with more or less experience will be considered)
Strong professional standards and attention to detail
Good communication and client management skills
A proactive and motivated approach
