Southill has an exciting opening for an energetic Rural Surveyor or Land Agent to become an integral part of the in-house management team and assist with all aspects of estate management.
Southill is a diverse rural estate located south of Bedford within the Greensand Ridge landscape character area. Managed by a dedicated team of eight office staff & circa 15 ground staff, the estate extends to some 11,000acres, including 1,300acres of woodland, 3,500acre regenerative farming operation, a wild bird shoot, sand & gravel extraction and registered parkland around Southill House. There is over ½Msqft of built property (100 listed structures) under occupation for residential, commercial and agricultural uses. Southill is a vibrant and evolving estate with strong social and environmental values. Alongside green energy initiatives and a significant biodiversity improvement project, attractive development opportunities are unfolding along the A421 corridor.
Main Responsibilities:
To deliver diverse estate management services alongside an experienced team, reporting to the Estate Director and liaising with the Whitbread family
Day-to-day management of the let portfolios, liaising with tenants, maintenance and accounts departments, negotiating and documenting new lettings, rent reviews and lease renewals
Providing administrative support and guidance to department heads and their associated staff
Supporting the application of externally assisted Health & Safety routines
Appraising opportunities and implementing schemes for broadening estate activities
Supporting assessment of the Estate’s carbon balance with a view to monitising accumulations
Undertaking surveys and site visits such as property condition & tree safety surveys and building digitised data within various IT packages including Landmark, Trackplan & Land App
