Rural Surveyor / Senior Rural Surveyor - North Northumberland/Scotland
A fantastic opportunity with real scope to build something of your own within a supportive, well-established, ambitious and growing business.
Following the successful merger of specialist rural practice Peter Graham & Associates with family firm Paton & Co in April 2026, we are entering an exciting new phase of growth and expanding our rural business across North Northumberland and Scotland.
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Senior Rural Surveyor to play a key role in helping us build the next chapter of the business. This is more than a job – it’s an opportunity to help shape a modern rural consultancy, help grow our client base and make a genuine impact.
About Us
We are a team of Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents with offices in Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland, and Elgin and the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands. Our work spans rural land management and professional services across Scotland and Northern England.
We combine deep local knowledge with practical, high-quality advice delivered with a personal, relationship led approach that sets us apart.
The Opportunity
We are keen to appoint an experienced rural professional who can deliver a broad and interesting mix of rural consultancy work including:
· Rural property and land management
· Valuations and landlord and tenant matters
· Renewables and energy projects
· Natural capital and emerging environmental markets
· Compensation and compulsory purchase work
This is an outward-facing role with a strong emphasis on business development, client leadership, and relationship management. You will take ownership of growing our presence further across Northern England and Scotland, identifying opportunities, winning instructions and building lasting client relationships supported by an experienced and collaborative wider team.
Who we’re looking for
We are keen to find someone who combines technical strength with commercial drive and a genuine enthusiasm for rural business.
You will bring:
· RICS-accredited degree (or equivalent) with post qualification experience in the rural sector
· Ideally Registered Valuer status
· A proven track record in business development and fee generation
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· The ability to work independently while contributing to the wider team
· Renewables or infrastructure experience an advantage
· A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is required
Why join us?
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior role at a pivotal moment for the business. You’ll have the freedom to grow your own portfolio, influence direction and be part of a forward-thinking team.
We offer:
· Flexible base across our office network (Berwick-upon-Tweed preferred) with hybrid working
· Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with future progression and potential other opportunities for the right candidate
· Private healthcare
· Generous holiday allowance
· Company pension
