The Cadogan family are well known for their ownership of the Cadogan Estate in London that owns and curates much of Chelsea. Their family home is in Scotland both at Snaigow and Glenquaich. Snaigow is a mixed estate that straddles the Tay near Dunkeld with both livestock and arable farming as well as sporting, forestry, let housing and hospitality. Glenquaich is a highland estate with a grouse moor and sheep farming about 25 minutes’ drive from Snaigow. They are managed as one.
THE POSITION
· The decision has been made by the family and trustees to bring the management in house and appoint an Estates Director to oversee all the family’s interests in Scotland based at the Estate Office at Snaigow. The position will include a house on the estate.
· The candidate will be expected to bring the highest standards of sustainability and commerciality to the role in line with the standards of the Chelsea estate in London. First and foremost though, it is a home to generations of the Cadogan family.
· Known for its positive and collaborative relationships with staff, tenants, local authorities and business partners, the appointee will look to strengthen and nurture these accordingly, whilst at the same time delivering long-term commercial, environmental and social value across the numerous opportunities that present themselves.
THE CANDIDATE
· The successful candidate is likely to bring proven experience of managing a rural estate with knowledge of farming enterprises and the interaction with sporting activities. He or she will be comfortable with financial and budgetary disciplines whilst possessing strong analytical skills.
· The candidate will be expected to think strategically and commercially whilst managing and leading what is already a first-class team, a good number of whom have been in place for many years.
· Above all, the appointee must manage the estate as a much loved and happy family home by working collaboratively and closely with the current head of the family and his trustees to ensure their ambitions and objectives continue to be met.
