ESTATE DIRECTOR - EUSTON ESTATE
The pivotal leadership position that spans the Estate’s varied activities and enterprises, and works closely with the Duke and Duchess of Grafton, their Trustees and the wider Estate team to identify and deliver fresh opportunities. This is a dynamic, broad and immersive role that is full of potential on an Estate that has shown itself willing to evolve and innovate, and to invest behind its plans.
A new structure for its agricultural operations alongside a very active approach to environmental management schemes and markets, woodland management and energy generation underpin the Estate’s interest in large-scale land use optimisation. At the same time, property management and development are key elements of the Estate’s mix, as are its hospitality, events and sporting enterprises. Overall, the Estate recognises its significant potential as a destination and its ability to be a catalyst for wider business growth, and it is keen to realise these opportunities.
THE POSITION
- Overseeing the in-house teams across all of the Estate’s enterprises as well as managing the Estate’s close relationships with its third-party operators to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and a strong team spirit.
- Seeking out, assessing, and proposing new commercial opportunities for the Estate, both business-to-business and direct-to-consumer, and then successfully delivering the selected initiatives and partnerships.
- Continuing to build an empowered in-house team that possesses the right mix of skills and experience necessary to deliver the Estate’s ambition within a culture that is collaborative and open-minded.
- Acting as a key ambassador for the Estate across a wide spectrum of stakeholders at a local, regional and industry level.
THE CANDIDATE
- A proven business leader who relishes the opportunities inherent within a broad and ambitious, property-based rural business – one that takes a long-term perspective and has the appetite to develop further, including into new markets.
- Knowledge of land and property is important, as is experience of renewable energy and environmental markets. At the same time, a track record of managing, developing or partnering with consumer-facing enterprises, particularly those with a tourism and/or retail focus, will be of strong interest.
- An engaging and diplomatic manager who is a strong communicator, believes in coaching and empowering others, and who engenders a positive, team-based culture.
