The Opportunity
Litton Properties are seeking a Property Management / Estates Surveyor to lead the operational management of our diverse property portfolio.
Reporting directly to the Asset Management Director and CEO, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of our commercial, residential and rural assets, helping to drive performance and long-term value and secure strategic growth.
You would support the Asset Management Director in producing and maintaining budgets, targets and KPI’s and be partly responsible for delivering on these.
You would also coordinate with development colleagues on existing and future sites.
The portfolio is predominately commercial but with a strategic aim to diversify further into other assets particularly agriculture and farming.
This would suit an ambitious and commercially astute rural surveyor interested in working client side for a successful and growing business where they can have significant responsibility and genuinely influence outcomes.

Litton Properties is a successful family-owned business established in 1995 and based near Bakewell in the Derbyshire Peak District.
Our core activities are property investment, management and development. We also have construction and renewable energy businesses within the group. Our main property holding in Derbyshire includes residential, holiday cottages, fishing, as well as a potential hotel and further significant development and diversification opportunities. Our portfolio includes commercial assets across the region.
There is a small rural holding outside Bakewell. We are seeking to expand this as well as invest further in commercial farming in the future.
We are committed to long-term stewardship of our assets and have ambitious plans for further growth, diversification and investment, including opportunities in natural capital, hospitality and sustainable land use.
You would be part of a small highly professional team of surveyors including in house accounts, legal and administrative support. There is also a direct grounds staff team.
The Role
- Lead the day-to-day management of a substantial diverse commercial, residential and rural property portfolio in line with the strategic plan for each asset.
- Leading and delivering on circa. £500,000 per annum service charge budget.
- Group property insurance.
- Oversee the maintenance, compliance and repairs across the portfolio.
- Take responsibility for managing the grounds staff, holiday cottages and current fishing enterprise at Bakewell.
- Support and advise the Asset Management Director and CEO on asset management, investment and portfolio strategy.
- Identify and progress development, diversification and value-creation opportunities.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with occupiers and acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day property matters.
- Work with the team and development colleagues to plan and deliver agreed capital projects including planning, refurbishment and further development.
- Take a proactive, commercially minded approach to protecting and growing the value of the portfolio.
- Support the running and growth of the current rural and agricultural interests, including farming and sustainable land use.
- Agree and deliver a strategy for the expansion of the agricultural estate.
Current Projects
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in or lead a range of exciting projects, including:
- Further renewable energy schemes.
- Natural capital and environmental enhancement initiatives.
- Future hospitality and leisure developments including potential 80+ bed hotel.
- Planning consent and delivery of a new head office facility in Bakewell.
- Re-establishment and structuring of the direct farming business.
- Produce, agree and implement a strategic plan to expand the group’s agricultural interests.
- Implementation of remote meter reading system.
What We Are Looking For
- A qualified Surveyor with management experience. Commercial property management experience is desirable but not essential.
- MRICS or equivalent professional qualification.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
- Has business acumen and is astute.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- A highly motivated individual capable of working independently and as part of a small management team.
- Full UK driving licence.
