Chatsworth Estate is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Deputy Estates Manager to join our established Estates team.
Reporting to the Head of Derbyshire Estate, this is an exciting opportunity for a qualified rural property professional, ideally with 3 to 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE), to play a key role in the management of land and property across the Devonshire Group's Derbyshire estate.
Working across the Devonshire Group's Derbyshire Estate, you will help manage an extensive portfolio of agricultural, residential, commercial, sporting and amenity assets, while contributing to a range of strategic projects that support the long-term sustainability of the Estate.
About the Estate
The Derbyshire Estate comprises:
- Approximately 50 let farms
- More than 300 residential properties
- A growing portfolio of commercial premises
- Extensive forestry, sporting and fishing interests
- Significant environmental, heritage and natural capital assets
As custodians of a nationally significant landscape, we are increasingly focused on landscape-scale land management, sustainability initiatives, biodiversity enhancement and natural capital opportunities. This creates a unique and varied working environment for the successful candidate.
The Team
Based at the Estate Office near Bakewell, you will join a highly skilled multidisciplinary team with expertise in:
· Rural estate management
· Agriculture and forestry
· Planning and development
· Residential lettings
· GIS and mapping
· Natural capital
· Conservation and game management
The wider Chatsworth Estate employs more than 800 people, offering opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across tourism, education, events, heritage, conservation and commercial enterprises.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent people skills and a proactive mindset.
You will ideally have:
- MRICS qualified status.
- 3 to 5 years' experience in rural estate or property management.
- Strong knowledge of agriculture and rural property.
- Experience managing landlord and tenant matters.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting APC candidates would be advantageous.
