Are you a Rural Practice Surveyor looking for a role where no two days are the same?
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Rural Surveyor to join the management team of a substantial and progressive Cornish estate. This is an exceptional opportunity to take responsibility for a diverse portfolio spanning agricultural, residential, commercial and environmental interests, while gaining exposure to a wide range of professional work rarely found within a single role
The Role
Reporting to the Land and Property Director, you will have day-to-day responsibility for part of the estate portfolio and play a key role in its ongoing management and development.
Your work will include:
· Management of agricultural, residential and commercial tenancies
· Rent reviews, lease renewals and general landlord and tenant matters.
· Regular property inspections and estate management responsibilities.
· Leasing and letting of residential, agricultural and commercial property.
· Capital and rental valuation work.
· Telecoms agreements, wayleaves, easements and compensation matters.
· Management of compulsory purchase and compensation claims
· Supporting planning, diversification and small-scale development projects.
· Assessment and implementation of renewable energy opportunities
· Delivery of natural capital and environmental land management projects.
· Working closely with tenants, stakeholders, consultants and professional advisers.
· Supporting the strategic management and long-term success of the wider estate portfolio
Why This Opportunity?
This is far more than a traditional estate management role.
You'll be given the autonomy to manage your own workload while gaining exposure to a broad range of rural professional disciplines. One day you could be negotiating a lease renewal, the next reviewing a renewable energy proposal, advising on a natural capital project, undertaking a valuation or working with consultants on a development opportunity.
The estate encourages involvement across a variety of projects, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to broaden their professional experience and develop into a well-rounded rural surveyor.
About You
We're looking for someone who is passionate about the rural sector and enjoys building strong relationships while managing a varied workload.
You will have:
- RICS qualification in Rural Practice.
- Ideally at least 3 years' post-qualification experience.
- Fellowship of the CAAV or be actively working towards it.
- A strong rural background, ideally with experience of livestock and/or arable farming.
- Experience in rural estate management and/or rural property management.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, professional and solutions-focused approach.
- High levels of integrity, attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.
Why Join Tregothnan?
This is a rare opportunity to develop your rural surveying career within a progressive estate that combines heritage, environmental stewardship and commercial enterprise. You'll enjoy a genuinely varied role, work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to the long-term success of a remarkable Cornish estate.
